Default Suspension, how to best lower a 993

Just planning to buy my first 993 4S, I have found a few nice cars but all seem to have the standard US suspension making it look a bit like a SUV. What is the best way to make it ride lower, without spending too much money? PSS-9 is an option but that would run me $3000 or more I guess. Any tips are appraciated.

There are several degrees of lowering
least and least flexible is to use RoW M030 springs on stock 993 struts/shocks

next would be RoW M030 springs on fully threaded Bilstein hd. The damping isn't adjustable but the ride height is fully adjustable, you can set it where ever you can live w/ it. For additional flexibility there are alternate aftermarket springs available

next is PSS9/10 as w/ the fully threaded Bilsteins you can adjust height but also can adjust damping

next is JIC which adds monoballs & camber plates and a wide range of spring rates

next is double adjustable Motons which add separate rebound and compression damping

which to use depends on how much you want to spend and your intended usage

Hi Bill,

I'm in the same boat as fn, prowling for the right deal. What are the other suspension bits that you would recommend changing if you went with the PSS9/10, JIC route? I've heard some mention drop links and sways? And also, just ball park, what would the parts total outlay be for each setup? My usage would be mainly daily driver with a little DE and tack time mixed in. I like the Bilstien route for it's flexibility. Seems like you would have even more options with JIC's but probably way overkill for a DD?

Fn, i do not mean to hi-jack your thread. I hope you dont mind me jumping in with a few questions. Thanks.

Hi

If you like the ride as it is but just want it lower then fit row M033 springs. Same rate as standard but lower. Easy to do, not expensive especially if you hunt round for the springs.

I haven't spoken with him recently, but my primary shop, Jae Lee at Mirage International, in San Diego, highly recommended the JRZ suspension. This was about a year ago, so not sure if anything's changed. For those in the know, Jae is considered a 993 suspension setup guru here in San Diego. With that in mind, if I were shopping for a new setup, I'd certainly take a look at JRZ.

Im in the same boat as well. Great summary Bill, thanks.
I had a JIC cross suspension on my Cayman S and liked the quality and adjustibility for the track. I would not do it again because too harsh for dd. Maybe the 993 options are different. I am thinking of M030 with HD's. People seem satisfied with that for dd, but there is always a double thumbs up on the PSS9's and 10's. Good luck on your suspension

My understanding is that if you lower just an inch or inch and 1/4 that you can avoid the drop links. Perhaps someone with a better knowledge can chime in.

If you lower it to RS specs, evo uprights will eliminate any bump steer issues. I did it with my Moton CS upgrade and it was really excellent, though pricey. Ask JuhaG how he likes it.

Would someone be kind enough to tell me how to raise the rear end on billstein pss10. I had them installed but the rear tires rub just a tad going over bumps. And is their a max or min. amount of treads/meas. I should be aware of when I do, or before I do something stupid.
Stupid would be trusting a porsche dealership to upgrade your 993. Clutch needed to be replaced, so, I asked if they could slap on a spec clutch and Alum.flywheel, fabspeed ex.setup....etc.......story fricken to be continued later.......i don't have time to get into it right now.

But, a quik how to on the tooling adj. would be great!
