Default Shipping recommendations - companies and covered/uncovered

After my father just sold his 86' 911, I am going to hand him the keys to my 4S. Now how to get it to him. He lives out in Maryland and I was hoping to hear what shipper company recommendations you guys might have, for those that have shipped cars long distances. The car would be going from Colorado out to Maryland.

Another question, covered or non-covered. Obviously down to price but for those of you who had shipped un-covered are there any recommendations on how to 'prep' the car? Thanks.

This subject has been beaten to death here.
Go to Search and you'll find many opinions on who is the best and the worst of carriers.
I personally use Fed-Ex in a contained trailer. Good service and a fair price.
Good luck!

I used Fed-Ex as well, closed container, and found them very professional and timely. I shipped from Chicago to Seattle and I believe it was about $1800.

For covered carriers my neighbor and I really liked Horseless Carriage about 1 year ago and Plycon about 3 years ago. Not horribly expensive for covered, no worries transport. We had a good experience with Fed Ex this year but we were lucky as we learned that he was an independant hired by FedEx. Could have been a questionable one but he was A1.

I strongly suggest you use an enclosed carrier, especially during the winter months. Sorry, can't help with suggestions.

My only advice is to avoid signing up for these websites that claim to provide you an online quote. These sites are only vehicles to collect your information and SPAM you endlessly.

I've used both intercity and fedex. stellar experience both times, car shows up as clean as it left and you have no doubts as to the security of your vehicle while in route. saving a few bucks on an unknown carrier (typical flatbed experience) and running the risk of the car not showing up at destination isnt worth it to me. go to the 356 registry and search "missing speedster"....

Intercity seems to be the sure thing. Under no circumstances should you use Jordan Transervice. Ask me how I know....
