Default Winter Storage...To cover or NOT to cover?

folks,

I am storing my baby again for the winter and usually cover it with an indoor cover. I store it in a heated residential garage. The garage door opens and closes quite a bit throught the day so some cold air will enter the garage. My car is close to the door....

I usualy cover it with no known issues, but I heaRD THAT I might be creating moisture for the seals by doing so...any thoughts?

must use a breathable cloth indoor cover. That should solve the problem.

Though I cannot blame you for storing the car for the winter, it is unfortunate that the benefits of a rear-engined, air-cooled car are not enjoyed more by us. As it has started getting cold here in Tennessee, I enjoy the quick warm-up of the heat exchangers. I also suspect that the rear weight bias over the drive wheels makes it excellent for winter traction. But then again, winter in Nashville is very different than the Great White North!

If you saw the crap that our cars go through in the winter you might cry. I've seen how clean the cars and roads are in Houston or Phoenix. I was just commenting to my daughter how no one drives a car they really care about here in the winter.

I just put a cheap cover on mine to keep the dust off it and prevent any scuffs as I walk around it all winter. I'll have the cover off a few times anyway to do some planned maintenance. I can't see this being a problem? I'm thinking that the humidity is lower here though.

you have NO IDEA how correct you are !.... I love taking my C4 in the snow. It is my primary winter car (over an SUV)... it is simply amazing !!

Just remember to wash that salt off !

I once left my Subie in a south Calgary mall parking lot for 3 days at - 30C, while on a ski trip. It was not plugged in, and it had 10W-30 dino in the sump. When I started it, there were ugly sounds for a few seconds, before the engine settled down...

I have used the OEM European indoor car covers for years on my p cars with no problems. I am quite sure the euro covers are from the same supplier as Carnewal gets, Andrea.

I think the benefit of the cover protecting the paint outweighs the remote possibily of accerating the drying of seals if the cover breathes, I don'tsee it having a negative impact.

Just about to put mine away and I use the indoor cover. My garage is an old carriage house with very tall sliding doors. My problem is cats, sleeping on the cover and very nice, pissing on it. Any humane ideas?
