Default FS: '96 993 Cab w/top-end rebuild

Not mine, but came across this while perusing Craigslist and thought someone here might be interested. Some nice upgrades and a top-end rebuild.

No affiliation blah blah blah...

I talked to the 'owner'. This car has a bit of a story. It was owned by a farmer who apparently ran it dry. The engine seized and had to be completely rebuilt...not just top end. Definitely caveat emptor.

OK, so that one sounds like a bust. Maybe this one is a better option:

Ran it dry? With all the oil these cars hold it would take some pretty serious neglect or incompetence (forgot drain plug?) to run one dry. Scary.

That's what the seller said. He should know as he rebuilt the engine. The story goes that the original owner wasn't very good with the maintenance (understatement) and that the engine seized due to a lack of oil. The car was brought to a Porsche shop in Berkeley and was quoted $26K to fix the damage. Owner didn't want to do this so the mechanic bought the car off the original owner but never titled it hence the 'one owner' description. Engine was rebuilt, con rod was replaced if I remember correctly, with a used part. Whilst in there other stuff was done like valve guides, clutch etc.
So, yes the car has a bit of a story. I also think its been resprayed. Might be a good deal for someone but i decided to pass after hearing of the mistreatment.
