OT: Friend's 1967 Beetle on ebay (paging Andreas!)
An old family friend put this beetle up for sale the other day. I couldn't believe it when I saw the pictures. He said the guy he got it from spent $60K restoring it! As I said, this is a friend's car, I'm not trying to get anyone to buy it, just thought you guys would enjoy the level of detail/obsession...

Very nice!! I've never seen a beetle that clean. Saw one the other day for sale, kind of a junker. The owner still wanted $6700 for it. I guess when air cooled, even VW's hold their value well.

There was a 69 Beetle for sale at the local college this weekend, 34k original miles, a few scratches on the paint but quite nice otherwise, guy was asking $4800, a pretty good price except it was the auto/stick, I kinda wanted it for fun.

That's just sick! Brings back incredible memories of spending every dollar I could earn to order stuff from JC Whitney's. I can still smell the interior of my 67 sunroof Beetle: Rest in pieces "Patience," Might be the best car I EVER had. (NO offense to "Zephyr" my 97' 993 if she happens to read this lol.

I've had many beetles, all prior to model year 1960 -- love 'em! They just dont go and stop
Love the vintage beetles! Was close to buying a 49 -- cable brakes!!

Had a '62 and a '74. Wish I had one today.
I met a guy last year that found a company that will take a VW "frame" south of the boarder and put the Mexican VW body and engine on it and bring it back in the States. Supposedly, the car will maintain the VIN for the frame but will have updated brakes, engine, and transmission.

I am amazed by that car. I also had one, I'm guessing many 911 drivers did. Very similar cars in some ways. Mine was also a 72, painted a beautiful metallic dark blue. One of my favorite cars. Handled like a dream. Had to sell it to buy some dope, or something like that. Stupid college kid I was ....

I do love old Beetles! Things are pretty awesome too.
I've always wanted a "dune buggy" Beetle with the whacked fenders, no decklid and the exhaust that sticks up in the air.

I still have 2 Porsche related projects to get through, but I may pick up an early 60's Bug or Bus to play with in the meantime. I love the simplicity of the design. Cars don't need to be fast or handle well to be fun! I've been DD'ing my 500 all week and still haven't tired of the 18HP!

I bought a light blue '67 new in '67 for $1600. Sold it to my parents when I got drafted in '69. They sold it when they got divorced.

Three Wheelin'
Incredible car. I had a '71 Super Beetle in college (1977). I paid $300 for it. Very dependable. No f-ing heat.
It looked a lot like this car
Ok..... it had 4 wheels and an engine in the rear....like this car.
Thanks for the memories

Yap, I too learned to drive in my Dad's '67 VW Bug. Over time I had two 1970's and a 1958. My 30 year old daughter's first car was a 1970 bug that she had for 8 years. She even took it back to Nortre Dame while in college. Great cars.
