Default "Welcome to the Family"--Porsche documetary last showing on IFC

The Porsche 1/2 hour documentary (see description below) has it's last scheduled showing on the IFC cable channel tomorrow night 11/12. It is also available online HERE by clicking on the "Documentary" tab at the top.

The IFC showing tomorrow, however, gives you the chance to see it on a 40-60" screen.

Celebrate the 60 year legacy of Porsche in this all new documentary.
Porsche owners share their passions in this all new documentary. "Welcome to the Family"

Welcome To The Family airs on IFC:
Sun 10/25 @ 1:00 PM E
Wed 10/28 @ 2:05 PM E
Sun 11/01/09 @ 12:30PM & 4:30PM E
Sat 11/07/09 @ 10:30AM E
Thu 11/12/09 @ 10:00PM E
"Welcome to the Family" explores the common threads that bind the community of Porsche enthusiasts together. From the family who races and maintains their cars together to the celebrity with a curator for his private collection to the couple who spends their free time showing their automobile for competitions, this documentary celebrates the human component of the Porsche Legacy.

Beautifully filmed on location, showcasing a veritable parade of Porsche models from past, present and the near future, "Welcome to the Family" is a love story of form and function for drivers of all walks of life. But then again, why walk when you can drive?

Don't waste your time. It was the dumbest 1/2 hr Porsche "special" I've ever seen.
I wish the director would have taken Jerry Swinefeld aside and told him how to pronounce Porsche.
You would think this clown with 40 plus P-Cars would know how to say it.

Thanks for sharing. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Excellent job of capturing the "lifestyle" and what these cars mean to some of us.

Pretty sweet that one dude had a 993 engine from 1991 in his rebodied 1969 996.

I watched it last night on the way home. I wasn't that impressed, I guess I expected more. Seeing the cars was fun, but the rest of it was boring. The stories weren't that interesting.

I'm glad someone agrees with my comments. I thought maybe I blinked and missed something.
You would have thought too it might have been in HD.

Thanks for the 'heads-up' Tony, I enjoyed it. I don't know what others were expecting, but I thought it a fun little film. Gave some nice insights into Sam Cibaglio (sp?) and his son who manage Seinfeld's collection.

I was trying to figure the engine part out... Maybe he meant a 964 engine.

Kind of interesting. One of the best parts for me as a Land Cruiser guy was the shot of the Toyota FJ40! Definitely didn't expect to see that in a Porsche commercial.

Tony-- Thanks for the hyperlink.

My miscellaneous observations:
I enjoy being around Porsche luvers, so this reminded me of that, which I liked.

Was surprised Porsche featured the self-described "piecemeal" 1965 993 996 discussed above.

Uhm, I liked the blue 993 ... whatta surprise

Choice quote of enthusast describing his daughter, Regan:
My sister used to wear pink underwear ... to give the boys something to look at ... so Regan ... gives the boys something to look at
Nice to see Keystone, Colorado PCA Parade featured. I admired James Cambron's 993 Turbo at the Concours & on the racetrack, so it was nice to see him interviewed about exactly that. In the first segment that features him (he's arguably the 'star' ... on camera the most), however, it was crushing that the editors intercut a silver Boxster racing , while James talked about racing his Turbo, then they faded back to his silver 993. He's in later segment, narrating autocrossing his Turbo, yet the 'commercial' shows similar again - Boxsters & Caymans.

PS A couple of random shots I took of Mr. Cambron racing. I neglected to share 'em on the "2009 Keystone PCA Parade pix thread," so kudos to HoggeL for his bottom Concours photo.

Because of a wonderful RLer, I've had the pleasure of spending time with the Cabiglios. Really enjoy them as people, & enjoyed seeing 'em in the above film.
I dig how the film's fade-out shots of both of them show them driving separate Speedsters.

OT, but same reason I enjoy the last half of this Porsche web commercial:

Web photo I zapped to Sam. I know he's thrilled beyond words that his son shares his love of Porsches...

The above photo doesn't make me jealous.
However, since his son personally told me he's driven the below 993 Speedster, well, maybe the following photo makes me a wee bit envious ...yeh, I'm shallow
Look on the left of this, the first image in the "Speedster type 993 photo thread":
