After a major detail this summer I left mine off, it looked more simple and butch without it. I added it for a couple shows but prefer it without.

Wheels, brakes. suspension, transmission are all very well. but there is the small matter of a chassis number.
An RS fitted with recliners, turbo wheels and Boxster brakes...still has the RS factory DNA, none of us can really play at God, that is down to Weissach.

With the amount of work you've done, I'd be all in favor of lobbying Porsche for an RS VIN.

Sorry, it's false advertising. Such other well known ones are "///M3" badges and "Turbo" script. Push-up bras also fall in this category.

I will stick with my stock Carrera badge IF I end up going with the RS wing. My poll had primarily 'all 3 - splitters, side sills and wing' but I'm leaning toward just splitters to start, then MAYBE the side sills, wing would be a long shot, but regardless, I won't be going farther than that so I'm even going to replace the RS caps on the wheels with silver and black (I think monochrome caps look better on the dark car) crest caps.

Could you post some pics of the rear seating area & sides of your RS?

I didn't have the guts to get the RS center caps for my Speedlines so I just stuck with the color crests. Surprisingly, a lot of Porsche people have no idea what the 993 RS is and always ask me what kind of "body kit" and wheels I have. Kinda annoying, but oh well.

Similarly, I replaced the turbo script on my New Beetle Convertible with a Porsche turbo badge. However, even though they did make a Turbo S edition of the hardtop and even though mine makes twice as much hp as the S with the big turbo, I still wouldn't put an S on my car.

So obviously I love the 993 RS enough to turn my 993 into sort of a clone, but imagine the crap I'd get by putting the RS on a cabriolet! I dunno, it's up to you, but as long as you don't mind people like me who will take a photo of your VIN and look it up in my 993 books, then go for it!

I did not do it and if I had, I would have felt like a fraud, and that is with a car which should be faster and lighter than a genuine stock RS. I went for a custom CS sticker that stands for what my car is to me, a car with a Club Sport philosophy.

All the best,

If you have done full on RS "pimpage" why not? A particular type of car is a sum of it's parts, is it not? I've done everything on my car with the exception of the 3.8l engine and gearbox. When the engine needs a full rebuild I will do both of those at the same time in addition to an all out re-spray and "plugging" of the sunroof. It's not that I want to remove the sunroof to make it more RS like though it's because I never use it and the diminished space makes it tight for headroom. Until then it'll be a Carrera RS Ersatz edition.

if you have done a full rs recreation.. right down to the seam welding, the 3.8, welded in headlamp washer holes, the ali bonnet, every suspension component + the side members, rack, drive shafts and CV joints, brake booster, accelerator cable, screenwash bottle, bonnet support rod etc... I think then, and only then is it justified (as it is basiclly an RS minus the correct VIN number)

but you wouldnt have done that so just leave it as Carrera or '911'

the only people who will notice the 'RS' badge and a) know what it means, b) care enough about it to think about it, are the very people who will suck through their teeth at you

I certainly appreciate your passion for the RS. I tend to agree with jackal2513, unless it is everything except the VIN, I would go for the Carrera or 911 Badge. Don't you hate seeing AMG on the back of a Mercedes that only has 2 tailpipes?

We just bought a '87 911 that has been back dated to a '73 Carrera RS tribute car. It is not a clone. The PO has the Carrera RS sticker on the back.... we are removing it as we do not feel it belongs on a tribute are, nor on a clone for that matter. The VIN tells it all.

BUT, it's your car and you should do what you want to do and what feel right to you.

BTW: Love the 993's pictured in this thread. I really miss mine.... One day, one day..................

Your nice speedline center caps already have the "RS".... why not?

Or, IMHO, forget the badge and put some "RS" decals in the same place the RSA's have them... I always liked that better.

Do you have a photo of this badge? How was it made/where did you buy it? I am thinking about the same for my C2 when all modifications are in place.

If u can get the VIN to say "Carrera RS" then fine. Otherwise no. It's not an RS. Like if I had a 997 and built it up to gt3 spec, I wouldn't dare put a gt3 badge on it because it's not a gt3.
