Default What are my chances??

Hey Listers- Wanted to get some of you smart guys to chime in on my plans here.
Quick Background: My 1995 993 Cab is failing CA smog, needs top-end rebuild-valve seals leaking, you know the story.
Car has 98K miles-absolutely love my carrera, but CA smog ****'s need appeasement. Car has no degrade in performance-very little smoking at initial startup.
Here's where I need some input from you guys..
My plan is to keep the car driveable for special occasions, Sunday afternoon rumps, etc. Looking to buy used C4s or GT3 next year for daily driver. So I'm looking at this plan to pass smog and get her legal again.
Buy new Cat Converters, plugs, air filter, fresh oil change, high-octane fuel
and take her to the smog check-Do you think brand new cats and the rest of this would get me thru the smog check?? This is spending about $1,000 vs $10,000. What are my chances-I'll need these new items anyway if I plan on getting the full re-fit in the future. Please advise/

I'd start by posting more info on the test results and the data suggesting that the car needs a top end rebuild (besides being close to self-destructing at 100K ).

The actual test results will give a better picture of how the car is failing and allow the experts to provide better suggestions.

It is true that a new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and oil change can allow a marginally failing car to pass (happened to the PO of my car, and it has since passed two more times), but this is not always the case of course.

It's unlikely a '95 is failing from internal engine issues. Are your tests there dyno or still unloaded high speed? As mentioned above, giving us a look at the numbers will allow us to comment with some accuracy.

+1 Why specifically did it fail? The 96 & up have SAI problems, but that shouldnt affect your 95.
