I did not ask about what they did to the back side, when I go back to the shop I will speak with the tech about your question.

My 993 goes into the same shop that did our 964 next week, as it has similar problems as our 964 and your 993.... I don't understand why they used fiberglass on yours? Was it a filler or to supplement the metal??

+1 Sorry to say but doesn't sound like a very good metal repair shop...

There is access to backside of it so it can be 1st painted with the rust inhibitor/primer and then with the finish paint. I'd assume that's what they've done but make sure.
When I had my roll cage installed, I told them few times to make sure they paint the parts they drilled in the wheel wells properly etc. etc. When I picked up the car, of course they had done nothing...
Had to remove the bolts etc. and properly paint everything.
