Default Window question

I was wondering if there is some kind of contact between the door ( in the rubber hose) and the chassis of the car.

A bit hard to explain

I have a bad contact somwhere in that hose and my window doesn't work when I want to...

Have you tried cleaning the contact pins on the window switch in your door? Happened to me not too long ago, my window would work intermittenly and a good cleaning with a pencil eraser got rid of the build up on the pins. Also look at your window relay at your panel. Check all the contacts for voltage and you can source it quickly.

The problem is not the window switch, it's something in that rubber hose between the door and the chassis.

Is there a connector or something?

Thanks

The wiring harness goes through the rubber accordian tubing. You may have a wire that's gotten tired of flexing and developed an "open".

I did a search for window switch, found this thread but not others. I checked p-car.com but nothing on switch replacement. Since my driver's isn't working but passenger is, I have to assume it's the switch itself. SO, since I've not replaced one of these, I presume you just gently pry it out of the door so as not to leave marks on the door vinyl, and hopefully the wiring pulls out with it, and you just pull off the dead switch and plug on a new one ?

Yes, they pop out very easily. This is about a 1-2 minute job, from sitting down to remove the switch to the point of closing the door when you are done. I bought mine off of e-bay for $10 or 15 shipped.
