Default Brake questions.

I drove the 993 for the first time today just for a couple blocks to see whats up and noticed the brake pedal to be pushing back at me when I press it in a pulsating rythem. I know usually that means rotors are warped but I dont think that is the issue here because the car only has 18K miles.

1. Can it be because it stood for over a year without driving and the rotors are rusty?
2. Air in the lines? (but again I didnt touch the lines and its hard to believe someone would drive it like that.)
3. What else could it be?
4. It cant be bent wheels can it?
5. Bad/old Fluid?

Thanks, Paul.

Did it sit on it's tires the entire time?
Do you get a vibration once rolling?
Perhaps flatspotted tires, feedback through pedal.

Yes it did sit on the tires. They also did have air.
I felt it once rolling down the hill applying light pressure to the pedal.
Steering wheel felt fine.

That could be it.........

It could be that as a result of sitting in one position for over a year, the pads left a "deposit" on the rotors and what you are feeling is those deposits as they pass under the pads.

Before you do anything else, get out on a clear road, run the car up to speed, then conduct about 5-6 full on panic stops...If it is the type of deposits I'm describing, the hard stops should clean the rotors.

Hope this helps...

Terry

Www.stoptech.com has good brake info, including bedding procedures. Good luck!

After panic stops, make sure to run at speed for a bit to let the rotors cool down.

p.s. I have never known "I was bedding in my brakes" to fly with the highway patroll.

Default Uneven pad transfer

I'm no wrench but like TMc993, I'd go with uneven pad transfer first.

Take a few minutes and read this:

Good luck

Nice. Will this be the first real 'drive' since the rebuild?
