Default Anyone work at a Porsche Dealership???

I just bought a '96 C2 and I need a copy of the vehicle service history from Porsche showing that there are no outstanding recalls on the car to import it to Canada. The person I bought it from is in her late 60's and I really don't want to have to bother her with getting this for me. Is there anyone out there who could help me out please. I am happy to pay for this service. Thanks in advance.

They won't accept a Carfax report? If not, won't any dealership print out a report for you based on the VIN#?

Crazy, I know, but they won't take a car fax. Anyone can run the report with the VIN, I just have to find someone willing to do it for me...even if it costs a few hundred dollars, I don't care!

Post your question on the OT section and/or 997 forum. There is at least one dealer guy there.

I think if you take or have someone take the car to a Porsche dealer they can run the VIN and tell you or printout the recall history.

The dealerships do not run the repair history anymore....some legal BS.

Only the person who owned the car can get the work they had performed as a report. Also, employeers are not allowed to run the history but I am sure it happens....

I think the recall should be tied only to the VIN and any dealer should be able to do that.

Good Luck!

I did this in January of '08 when I imported mine. I called Porsche directly in the US and they were absolutely fantastic. They even called me before they faxed the letter. It takes a few days because they only run them once a week. IIRC the letter states that all recall work has been done and that the car was mfg'd for Canada. I can dig the number up tonight if you like.

ps you don't need the work history - just a statement saying the recalls have been done

Glad the "hunt" is over and I am sure you got a nice ride. Good luck with it.
Post a few pictures when you can.

I own a well used '95 993. There is really only one authorized Porsche dealer in my area. So I drove down there, sort of adopted a "hat in hand" attitude at the service counter and asked (nicely!!) if they could look up the service history (against my VIN). They did so but did not want to give me the actual printed records (it turns out the previous owner had serviced the car there) because the name, address and credit card # were on the records. So I said: "I don't care about that, cut it out - I just want the records for my own "history" of the car in case, someday, I want to sell it.

They happily printed out all the records, cut off the identification info. and gave it to me.

Thanks Trader...another RLer promised one this afternoon. I'll let you know if he can't come through. Thanks again, Mark

Thanks Larry! There are a few pics in another post above, but I'll post more once she is home and cleaned up a little more. Still going to look for a WB car in the future, but this one was just so sweet I had to buy her...Take care!
