Really? I'd love to have a ride in your car, pleazes? I have the RS clutch LWF also, but I think my clutch might be on its way out, hence the difficulty with the hill start.

Depends on what you buy 3/4/5 for. I scored them cheap, but it was luck. Labor isn't too bad -- cost me $2500 with a Porsche gearbox specialist, but I already had gearbox out of the car. That price included rebuilding the LSD.

The real dividing line on price is if you want to change 2nd, which requires getting the early mainshaft. I've never understood the wisdom in this, as there's no discernible difference in the /20 and /31 ratios, so you're just doing it for the taller 1st. If a taller 1st is worth thousands of dollars extra, I guess it makes sense.

thanks for the info. if i go through with this yours is the setup i would try and mimic. what is the gear cost typically? $500-$1k per gear?

edit: someone should pick these up..i would but this project is still a ways off for me..

That's your problem.

We can arrange a time to meet next month.

Thanks! I might take you up on that. Lucky for you to ****** up one of the last G50/31's.

The clutch was already on the car when I bought it, so I'm not sure what condition it's in. The pedal always feels funny despite me changing the clutch master and slave cylinder already. The clutch feel on other 993's aren't exactly much nicer either, but it's always on the to-do list to check when I get the transmission out. Would be nice if I could feel out a well sorted RS clutch and LFW.

I WOULD NOT BUY THESE IF I WERE YOU. These appear to be removed from the .33 gearbox, and are therefore the identical same ratios as that found in the normal us box. So it'd be a decent amount of money, for essentially the same exact gear ratios.

Food for thought.

Jster,
You are correct. I always felt they were misleading people. They are rs gear, but not from the desired g50-31 box.

I would take that combo in a heart beat. I drove around SF with the stock setup and had zero issues with LWFW. I would go taller 1-2 if I could for a reasonable amount.
