Marlene reborn
Hello all,
I just wanted to share my happiness with y'all today. My car is reborn!
She used to look like that:
Then last June, me and some buddies decided to have some fun at Hallett racetrack... and I made a BIG mistake... That was the result of it
After months of hard work, money saving and money spending, I finally got my car back yesterday. And this is how she looks now
Modifications/repairs included:
- New front polyurethane RS splitters and Fiberglass RS wing from Better Bodies
- New M033 lowering kit from Sunset Imports
- Front protection bar installed
- Used sway bars from a European car (21mm front, 18mm rear)
- Removal of all bumperettes
- Front and tail lights euro style (won on eBay Germany)
- Removal of the basket handle and the holes were welded
- Installation of the roof type third brake light (bought from a Rennlister)
- Installation of a used set of regular mufflers (in much better shape than my old ones)
- Installation of Murfyflaw's exhaust tips
- Miscellaneous used parts from dcAuto (like heat shields, wheel liners, etc...)
oh yeah... and the engine tray is now hanging in the garage
If you are curious, the quarter panel was PULLED not cut and replaced. The bumper covers were repaired not replaced. This masterpiece of bodywork was all done by Jerry Palmer of Personal Touch Bodywerks in Memphis. He is a true artist and bodywork genius and I will go back to him without hesitation for any body work I may need in the future.
Finally I need to thank a bunch of people for their support during the tough times I went through. Among them are all the folks of the Ozark PCA, Jerry Palmer but also Pat Williams from Pat Williams racing who told me to go to Jerry.
Big thanks to the following Rennlisters for their help/support/advice:
Chuck S. from Memphis (you were sooooo right about Jerry)
Patrick Murfyflaw (even though he sold his 993 )
And my usual local 993 crew, Stuart, Staton (who took those superb pictures of the end result) and Travis (who helped me SOOOO much all along).
Be on the lookout because as a big "thank you", I will have a Diamond Bear Keg party very soon and there will be free beer for everybody who shows up.

Nice recovery! And the fastest color too Glad to hear you found a good bodyshop. A bad experience can be a nightmare not to mention expensive and time consuming. Nothing like referrals from fellow enthusiasts ...

But I had to promise my wife to never ever take that baby back on a racetrack (hence the M033). I think I may look for a beat up Boxster and turn it into a track junky next
