Thumbs up New Suspension

I have finally got my suspension upgrade complete.
I would really like to thank Viper Bob, his deal on PSS10 really made it all possible. Oh, and while I had the car in the shop I went ahead and did the Euro rear fog light upgrade too. It is starting to get cold here in Germany, so she is sitting on her winter tire and wheels also.
First some before pictures.

The car looks good lowered. I have a few questions though.

1. How do you like the PSS10s? What setting are you running?

2. Are those adjustable camber plates on the front strut towers? If so why?

3. What snow tires do you run?

4. How do you like the Alpine HU?

Wow, looks good! So did you change the sways out also? Or just stay with the stock ones?

I would lower it quite a bit more yet... having driven in Heidelberg, there is not one pot hole in the entire region.

Enjoy!!

Hi Floodj,

I'm also an expat located in Germany (Bayreuth). Why did you ship parts from the US to Germany? Even with the good exchange rate you would have paid VAT and duty, no? Besides we have a very good alternative in Germany: KW, which is what I recently went with - V3's.

Sorry it has taken so long to reply--here goes.

1. How do you like the PSS10s? What setting are you running? So far so good, they are hugely better than the stock system they replaced. The shop set them to 1 all the way around, which is fine for around town, but to soft for the autobahn, or aggressive driving.

2. Are those adjustable camber plates on the front strut towers? If so why?
Yes, they are adjustable camber plates. I did them more as a "while I'm in there" upgrade.

3. What snow tires do you run?
I am running Blizztech (sp?). My Michelin Pilot Sport summer tires were pretty worn, so they are a huge improvement, but if memory serves the Michelins were better when new.

4. How do you like the Alpine HU?
Love it!

So did you change the sways out also? Or just stay with the stock ones?
I was planning to change out the sways, but I could not put them together so I stuck with the stock 030 sways. Also I have never modified a car before, so I try not to do a bunch of stuff all at once so I can tell which mods make a difference. Sways are still on the agenda, maybe 2010 or 2011.

I will answer these both together. I did relocate to H-berg. I am a US Army Officer so I am not an expat. As such I do not have to by VAT or duty on imports, and I can be re-leaved of VAT for purchases under $2500. When we got orders sending us to Germany bringing the Porsche was a forgone conclusion. I started researching this project about 18-months ago, by the time we moved (Mar 09) I had pretty much decided on what I was going to buy and I had put the money aside. Upon arriving in Germany all I had left to do was find good prices and order the pieces. Based on all that I didn't seriously research parts here in D-land.

We should plan a 993 "auslander" meet-up at the Nurburgring in the spring! What do you think?

I was thinking some along the same lines. How about a trip to the Porsche Museum sometime this winter, maybe Veterans' Day? I do think meeting up at The Ring sounds like a great idea! I don't think I would just do "auslanders" I think we want to make sure we include our European friends. I have to admit I am always jealous of the guys doing their "cars and coffee," and I would love to turn the tables with a "cars and coffee" at the Boxen Stop at the P-Museum.

Great idea... but my car will be in hibernation now until the spring. Nov.11th might be a bit early and besides the ring will probably not be fun if it's cold, wet and snowy.

Alex,
Sorry I was not clear. I agree the Ring in Spring would be awesome--I have been looking for someone to head up there with.
I was thinking The Museum o/a 11 Nov; understand your car is in hibernation. I am not sure if you have been to the museum yet, but there is a train station right outside.

Have not been to the new museum yet and would love to go. Unfortunately, I can't go that week/weekend. Lets try to find another day?
