Has anyone had any experience with BG 44K? I've heard some good things about it, too.

I can tell you that we have 2 cars in our family with over 130,000 miles on them that both run like tops due to this Chevron discipline and doing all scheduled maintenance (a '99 Suburban driven by our kids and intended by us as a large metal shield against all comers, and a rarely-driven old MBZ SL that I can't get myself to sell yet). The stuff definitely works.
This cause and effect is wishful thinking. I could say the exact opposite because I put any old gas in each the Honda Prelude, Nissan Sentra, Nissan Altima and Toyota Camry I had years ago and drove each to well over 175K miles with the engine still running fine.

I really have no idea if the crap works but that arguments doesn't hold up anymore.

I picked up a quart of the Techron super concentrate that is added to the fuel load by the tanker truck driver when a delivery is made to a Chevron Station.
I was told that additional Techron is sometimes needed to bring the 6,000 gallon load up to spec ... I would love to better understand the dilution ratios, etc.

If I had more tech information I thought this stuff could be used as a SAI cleaner?

PM me is anyone has additional information ... a Chevron Engineer perhaps?

I use it in all my cars and my Porsche indy shop put it in as well. Pricey at about $20 per bottle but it does the job. Learned about it at GM dealerships originally for the V8 LS engines, then was slightly surprised to see that my Porsche mechanic has the same stuff.

Chevron Techron was the only thing that would work in my vintage V8 Mercedes. In the spring, I would start it up (after the winter storage) and it would chug and run rough (even after a fresh fillup of gas) until I ran 2 bottles through it. Then, anytime it seemed to run a little rough, I would run another bottle through it. I tried all different kinds of cleaners and quite by accident, I ran across Chevron Techron. I’m sold on the stuff.

I ask because my AMG's ecu will adjust the timing to the octane. But without an aftermarket tune set for a much higher octane, using 100 is a waste. The ecu sets for 91-98. There's no performance gain with pure race gas (tested on a dyno.)

What about the 993 motor? What's the "ultimate" octane in respect to performance and economy? I understand all about octane and detonation, etc., but just wonder about the ecu and timing, etc., on these cars in respect to fuel.
The 993 is equipped with a knock sensor and will retard timing if ping is sensed and therefore reduced power. If the motor does not ping, then the normal map is followed. Additional octane above what is needed to prevent pinging is of no advantage. Now, carbon deposits, high ambient temps and such could increase the likelihood of pinging whereby additional octane could be helpful. I am not sure if the DME stores any codes related to pinging. That could be helpful.

So, unless you have a leakdown issue in your cylinder walls or your valve guides, it's hard for me to imagine the oil getting in contact with the techron or the deposits it cleans.

I still only use Techron before the oil change just in case, but I still think it's more an old wife's tale more than anything...
Even a healthy engine will have some leakage past the rings. Whether it is enough to cause any problems, I am not sure. Since Chevron claims to run Techron as a normal additive in their gasoline, I cannot imagine it would be a problem. Also, the 11 or so quarts of oil in our cars will make it a lesser problem than for standard wet-sumped engines. I would agree that a flush followed by an oil change would be a great "just-in-case" procedure. Wish I had thought about it before my oil change!

I use Chevron 94 octane only in my car but I've never really thought about the Techron. I've always used it because it contains no ethanol. Now that I know Techron is good, i'm happy x2 lol.

Face value. Amusing comments albeit posted some time ago.

BTW; T-Concentrate Plus seems to have helped my DD Saab quite a bit.

Interesting. I wonder if fuel system cleaner would help deposits already deposited...such as with an SAI issue?
