To "os993" above;
An engine that was "completely" rebuilt at 95,000 miles sounds funny to me. Maybe 1% of them may have had a strange failure, but 95k miles on German engines is just pass the break-in period. Also the comment of "good for another 100k "should read 200K.
For these engines at 140k+ miles that are running good, there is not much to worry about. Any work required will be external. Solving leaks can easily be done with valve cover and timing chain gaskets. For us with '95 cars, plugged SAI is no issue. For things to consider due to the 30 age is the rubber intake stacks. Also have your injectors cleaned and while you are in there clean the MAF and idle valve. The valve guides are worn, but if true oil consumption (not from leaks) is still OK, keep driving.
The term "completely rebuilt" is subject to interpretation.

Yeah I am at 122K and the engine drips 5-6 drops of oil on the floor of the garage during the entire summer. Doesn't burn anything and pulls super strong. I've had the lower valve gaskets replaced and chain cover gaskets done - hence the very few oil droplets- but no need to get into an engine rebuild now

All good stuff. Just be mindful of all the rubber or rubber/plastic based items that are 30 years old and especially those that are subject to heat history in the engine room. Have your injectors cleaned if over 100,000 miles no matter how great the car is running. The report will come back with terrible numbers but they will be restored to original specs after professional cleaning. This is a 100% deal, easy to do and very low cost. You want that fuel trim to be correct for each and every cylinder, not just for an average for all of them. Your fuel trim will vary by up to 40% before servicing.
For people who want to take care of their cars and especially those that like to do some wrenching themselves, these are ideal cars to own. So much stuff is easily within the DIY category.
