I'm sure I can search, but being lazy on a Saturday night......... Do these paints and decals hold up? The C4S is pretty much coming apart in a couple of weeks after one last track day, and the discoloration of the front calipers has been unbelievable. So I either freshen them......figure it's an annual maintenance thing, or just use the two new big reds I have on the shelf (and watch them turn ugly next year).
Ken use the G2 caliper paint. Although it is suppose to be brush on we sprayed it using a large tiped primer gun. Results were fantastic!!! On a side note one of the bleeders was not 100% tight and weeped fluid on the paint. It did not harm a thing. The epoxy will hold up for years.
Looks great tjangi! Can you give me more info about how you proceeded? Spray, brush, what prep work, how many coats etc.
Once you get the wheels off the ground (the hardest part if not professionally equipped) the rest was easy. I lightly sanded the calipers and then sprayed (rinsed) the calipers with the caliper cleanerspray (came with the kit) thoroughly. Then paint the calipers. This process might take a few times to do, as the first coat are jsut a bunch of streaks. Don't worry, the paint dries fast, so a few thin coats will do the trick and you are able to achieve a thick red coat looking finish. Then apply the stencils and spay on a thin layer of clear coat. Repeat four times. It took me about 5 hours total; doing each wheel separately.
I am sending my caliper kit (paint and caliper cleaner) on to the next rennlist member. I am sure he would be more than willing to forward to the next person who needs it.
Hey Gappy, My calipers look awful. can I get on that list to be next to receive the kit? I'll send the sender something nice from the Philly area as a token of gratitude.
Great job on those calipers !! That is real nice of you to pass it on to fellow rennlister's. Fortunately I have upgraded factory ordered Red calipers ( option code XRD ) and looks killer against blue. Thanks to the PO to option for the Reds. I just couldn't picture Black calipers on my 993.
I, too, would like to know if you removed the calipers to do this, or did you leave them on and mask off the rest of the area?
brandon
Calipers need nit be removed, unless you want to paint the back side of it. I just painted the front and around the clipers, which are visible thru the wheels.
