I've been searching for a 993 for a few months now and I've noticed that I can probably get a low mileage (30-40k miles) NB for about the same price as a high mileage WB (over 100k). If you could buy a NB or WB with the same basic mods eg upgraded suspension, chip, exhaust etc. for the same price, but the only difference was mileage which would you choose?
Assuming it's only going to be a Sunday driver, which one do you think will hold its value the best over the next 10 years and 30k miles? I'm wondering if a couple of inches are really worth 70k miles.
By the way, I think I've found the car that I'm going to buy, but I'm curious as to what the majority would choose. I apologize for making this my first post and not including pictures, but as soon I buy my car I'll post a few pics.
Thanks in advance.

Low mileage car, purchased as an investment...these cars are a depreciating asset...if you want an appreciating asset, buy an early 911, 69 to 73 911 S. Now that car will appreciate!

I'd put money on it that those wide hips will leave a longer lasting impression. After buying a NB car I'm sure that everytime he sees a WB he'll say "I almost bought one of those" and a sure response would be "why didn't you?"
Everytime I see one on the road I do a double take and never give the NB cars a second glance.
I don't know either of the cars but am basing my opinion on body styles alone.

It's all about feeling good and service history.......
Get the one that offers you the better combination of both, and you won't be wrong.
If you live in NY, get yourself a C4, or a C4S. It will pay!
For the record, I am a NB kind of guy, and I have been called crazy for that......
GL and keep us posted.

The fact that you're rationalizing over this means you have some lingering "want" for a widebody. Is it worth it? Likely not. But it's not a sunk cost, either. Much as buying a house in a better neighborhood, the "S" will return the premium at sales time. Logical? Again, likely not. But that's how it is.
I absolutely agree with the comment that, unless you're looking to have multiples, you'll come back to "I could have got..........." And I absolutely disagree with the buy an early car comment. If you wanted one, you'd be looking for one of those. They aren't the same car at all.

I have always thought that, too. Ride behind a narrow body with 285s and then a 964 or anything earlier - pretty wide looking!
The number on the odometer isn't nearly as important as the records.
