Also tell your mechanic to quit complaining about the tires. I think you could get Pilot Sport Cups to last longer than 3K miles.

I have the same tires... around 1k miles along with alignment. I'll let you know when they hit 3k miles and we can compare for your friend...

After 1k miles there is no noticable wear that I can see.

My "cheap" Sumi HTR-ZIII have around 8000 miles (this includes 5 track weekends) on them, and the rears are now about half worn. Tell your mechanic it's the alignment!
