Default Space Saver Spare - 2nd Valve?

I performed a search and the threads I came across didn't touch on my question. My 993 is new to me, so is my Porsche.

I noticed that my Space Saver Spare has two tire valves; a standard sized one that is used to inflate the tire and another non-standard sized valve that I am wondering about.

Is it used to deflate the tired back to its original size by sucking the air out of it? I take it this is done at the dealer?

Hmm. I don't seem to remember that mine is configured like that. Can you post a pic?

Mine has it. Not sure what it's for, but the regular valve deflates it amazingly well.

Andreas

I'm awaiting parts that go in the spare wheel well, so I'll take a pic later this week when I have the spare wheel out again.

What it looks like are two tire valves with the other being on the same side but at the opposite side of the wheel (180 degrees out). The one I'm questioning is a bit smaller in diameter though.

It may do that, but not ever having had experience with this type of spare before, I wonder how easily the tire folds back up against the rim. Which is why I thought maybe a vacuum is introduced to "fold up" the tire to its original stored shape.

I'll call the local dealer tomorrow and ask.

Thanks for the replies.

you put a rope around it and tighten it with a stick squeezing all the air out.

Mine has only the single standard valve. I've had to use it twice. It deflates pretty easily, especially if you have a metal valve cap with a u-shaped top to tighten or loosen the valve core.

I can hear the response now, "I'll need your VIN number in order to research that."
