Default What short shift kit to buy for my 993?

After driving the 997 Turbo around with the factory short shift, I can't help but feel that the throw on the 993 is massively long.

I want to add a short shift kit but am not sure which one to get.

I have the RS Clutch + Flywheel if it's pertinent to the conversation..

Recommendations?

IMO, the nicest (and most expensive) option is a Rothsport 2-piece shifter with a Golden rod from FD Motorsports.

Otherwise you can buy the RS 2 piece short shift from Porsche (getting hard to find) or Weltmeister. Weltmeister also sells a 3 piece shift kit that replaces the OEM static rod.

If you can source an RS shifter, I recommend FDM w/ the golden Rod as well. Apparently the world has run out of RS shifters

This is a hugh improvement over OEM. I just drove a seriously tricked out 993 with the OEM shifter. Yuck!

I have another recommendation for FD Motorsports. Their SSK doesn't have the shortest throws on the planet but it is shorter than stock and the improvement in smoothness is remarkable. It's a good investment and I'm glad I made it.

We heard from Porsche that we should be getting more RS levers in about a month.

If you don't mind me asking.. What's the price on those? And usually what's the typical install time/amount?

Thanks.

I also like my FD SSk & Golden Rod. Much better than stock. Still not "short" throws IMO, kind of medium throws IMO, but feels very nice, is very well made, and when you see it and feel it your wonder why Porsche didnt come up with this themselves. IMO it's the way the car should have been stock.
Now that it sounds like there is a month plus back order, I am EXTRA happy I got mine.

Just a little more detail... the FDM SSK is built off of the Porsche RS Lever/fork (hence the parts backorder ) and has the same 20-25% reduction that the Porsche RS parts provide.

As Darin said, the RS levers are allegedly in production and set to deliver in about 30 days. Finally!
