Default seat recovering

Are there any "rules" that must be followed when exploring a seat recovering?

Did you buy new covers and have them installed?

How did I think this wasn't going to come back and haunt me? Just remember my car is chock-full of FisterD equipment. Ya know it does kind of look like you.

You have to admit I was pretty close. Did it on memory and a 100 beers. Plus the encouragement of Andreas, Cactus, jhummel68, simsoap and ironimages. Porsche Palooza is next so who knows what will transpire.

Andreas is on a 1000 mile banzai road trip. I hope this thread gets buried before he gets back. There is a reason he has Tommy the squirrel guarding the garage. That is some funny $hit my brother.

Wow, right before my very eyes, my thread melted and a pissing contest arose. May I restate my problem?

The seat bolsters on the driver's side are showing signs of wear. I believe they are the vinyl portion of the "partial leather" that are vinyl.

My question is, "what to do"? Given the other seat is pristine, can the passenger's seat's color be matched? Do I ask that only the vinyl is replaced? Must I replace both seats to get them to match? Do I trust an automotive upholstering firm to take out my seat which has all the electronic options and get it in and fully functioning again.

Thank you for the insight I lack.

Sorry for the derailment, freeman. Just having a little hump-day fun. Mike (Arena993) can probably help you out. He has masterfully rebuilt a few beautiful 993s. Oh Mike????????

IIRC the "patial leather" option has vinyl bolsters and backs. If the damage to the bolster is minor in nature (i.e. color wearing off) and the vinyl isn't destroyed it can be repaired by a company the specializes in this. Any indy dealer can give you the contact information. I would try the dying route first and see how that goes. These guys are amzaing in what they can repair. If the color is black you may be happy with dying the seat yourself. There are DIY solutions for this repair. Let me know how this approach works. If not I can put you in touch with a supplier that I have used on numerous occasions for new leather covers. Hope this helps and you can excuse the banter we had. All in good fun.

Mike
