Default C2S vs. C4S ?

Hi everybody. I am relatively new to this forum. It is truly entertaining, fun and informative. I am in the market to purchase a 993 wide body coupe but don't know which one to get. I live in S. Cal.
If repair costs were no object which one would you guys opt for.
Thx for your feedback.

Welcome!

It's been discussed many times before. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find many posts about it.

Basically, it boils down if you need the AWD system or not, and which one you like best.

I like AWD vehicles---I own 3 of them and my 4th is 4WD.

I dont think the repair costs are much different for C2S or C4S. You can start tossing out the "what ifs" but in 37k miles in 7 years of ownership with my C4, I have had no major issues. If it were a C2, the repair costs would have been identical. I probably have close to $17k in receits from things relating to maintaince and misc upgrades for my Porsche--thats between me and the previous owner.

Go & drive both, get the one YOU want.
The real difference is AWD & big brakes, other then that they are really the same.

Forget C2S vs. C4S. They're both great, and you'd hafta be an amazing driver to tell the difference between the two, and even then, only at the track do the differences really come to light. The great thing about the AWD drive system is it's bulletproof and maintenance free. The bad thing is it weighs about 100 lbs. or so.

I live in Los Angeles. Ideally, I woulda wanted a C2S because we don't get much bad weather here. But the car I found was a C4S, and I love it.

The best thing you can do is find the best car possible. If it turns out to be a C2S, buy it. If it happens to be a C4S, buy it.

The differences have always been very obvious between 2 and 4 911's to me, whether well inside the limit or on it. I think anyone can tell, just as long as you are focusing on what the car is doing. You can drop the front tyres by 2psi, lower the ride by 5-10mm or so, or say reduce rebound just by one click and its very noticeable in a 993 IMO

drive both and see what you prefer, only you can choose

but they are different IMO

Yeah, focused on what the car is doing. That went away a while ago here in the States, when cell phones and eating in the car became commonplace. Now most are focused on texting, talking on cell phones and how to get cupholders in the 993

True, the 2 and 4 are very different to an observant driver. The thing is, the observant driver is a rare thing these days. The average American wouldn't be able to wring enough performance out of either in an urban setting to make much difference, IMHO.

the 2s is a widebody on a standard (if there is such a thing) 993. the 4s has upgraded brakes, and is basically a turbo without the turbo drivetrain and wing.

also, you can convert a 4s into a 2wd vehicle easily, while the converting a 2s to a 4s is not something you'd want to do. and the weight difference is quite small. under normal conditions, very little torque is transferred to the front wheels in the 4s, as well.

both are awesome.

forget the 2S .... nothing beats AWD. Everyone loves the Turbo and most do not convert it to rear wheel drive. With the 4S you get the better brakes, too. I would only swap mine for a Turbo but for the most part the extra $$ just make no sense from me until I win the lottery.
