Post G50 vs 915 vs how hard to rebuild

I have rebuilt a couple of 915 transmissions. I followed the hanes manual that I found to be very good. The tranys worked great. Any trany guys out there that could tell me if doing a G50 is as straight forward?

The G50 gearbox is a bit more complex than a 915 in that their is far more internal linkages inside the box as apposed to externally as in the case of the 915. You also need more specialized tools to disassemble the g50 gear clusters..The 915 shafts are held down with separate clamping plates, the g50 are not...these differences make the g50 a bit trickier, but if you have some documentation, patience and mechanical insight, very do-able...best of luck, Jerry

Since you are intimate with the 915, here are some images of the G64 (similar to the G50)
