Florence is one of my favorite cities. For a restaurant check out a place called Mama Gina. You can google them as they have a web site. We had an unbeliverable dinner and service was extraordinary.

If you want to splurge one night, take a cab up into the hills of Fiesole (10 minute drive from the center of Florence) and have dinner at Villa San Michele. http://www.villasanmichele.com/web/o...FQRM5QodJCjCbw Very magical place, designed by Michelangelo, then a monastery for hundred of years....no and ultra luxury hotel and restaurant....
For a more casual meal, I like Buca Lapi, which is a short walk from the Savoy. It is known for the Tuscan steak...big enough to share. http://www.bucalapi.com/home-eng.htm
