Hi all,
I'm installing a 3rd brake light on a 993. I need to glue the mounting studs for the light to the glass. Although I bought the full kit from Sunset, I don't seem to have the glue.
Any idea what kind of glue to use? Will a nice generic 24 hour epoxy work for this application?
Or, should I postpone the project for a couple of weeks and get the glue from the factory?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete

Cool deal -- if you search the 3M site looking for what is recommended to bond steel to glass, or just about anything to glass, RTV Silicone is what's recommended. I have used this for this very purpose without trouble.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you'll want to scratch up the glass first. I'm not sure if it's useful or not to use a chemical prep, but if so you can pick up a pep boys $5 kit for attaching rear-view mirrors and use the little towelette from that.
First time I tried this, I didn't prep the glass at all (just cleaned it) and used a 30-minute two-part clear epoxy that was supposed to work on glass. It didn't.
