My flame suit is on!
I know I should get voted off the island for this, but here goes.
So today I was detailing my car. It was 97 degrees, 98% humidity, I was really, really hot, and as I was buffing on the front wing, I saw this angle:
And for a moment, just a moment, I saw where they were coming from with the...

The main sign of heatstroke is a markedly elevated body temperature — generally greater than 104 F (40 C) — with changes in mental status ranging from personality changes to confusion and coma. Skin may be hot and dry — although if heatstroke is caused by exertion, the skin may be moist.
Other signs and symptoms may include:
* Rapid heartbeat
* Rapid and shallow breathing
* Elevated or lowered blood pressure
* Cessation of sweating
* Irritability, confusion or unconsciousness
* Feeling dizzy or lightheaded
* Headache
* Nausea
* Fainting, which may be the first sign in older adults

that IS where those lines came from. The 993. Sorta.
Still doesn't make it right.

Anyone driven one? As a five year old car that will be readily available for ~$30K, why not? I'd prefer if it were 3-series size, but I'm always the weird guy.

I like the car. I will never have a use for a car in that market segment but if I did I would buy it over the MB or BMW. As an engineer I'm very impressed with the materials they've used to minimize the weight, the technology to manufacture the car, and the incredible performance for a car that size.
The style is not on par with any 911 but neither is the Cayenne ... apples and oranges. I do think that most people who see the Panamera can tell it's a Porsche.
Should Porsche be trying to get into that market? If you know the answer to that question I think there's a job opening for you.

I'm with you. I drove a 4S during Concours week at Pebble. It was great. Looks much better in person. It's not a 993, but it's not supposed to be.
