Or whatever it is. I happen to look outside and see one of our cats batting this crustacean around. After putting the cat in time out, I gave it a closer look. It's about 4" long and the last time I checked, the ocean was three hours away by car. Any thoughts?

Do you have any creeks/ponds/lakes nearby. That looks like a good sized crayfish (or crawdad in some parts.. ) They are good eatin' if you've got enought of them. And are great bait for smallies (smallmouth bass... ).

We have a large pond about 10 minutes away, by foot. I guess it is a crayfish/crawfish/crawdad. Looks like we'll have some étouffé this evening....

That's no lobster!!

As noted above that is a "crawdad", pretty common around these parts. One of the staples of Cajun cuisine.

Go grab about 400 more of them and you have dinner!

I'd keep it as a pet and teach it to wave.

My girlfriend finds them in her swimming pool all the time. They come out of the neighborhood retention pond a block away.
