Default Front Trunk, Glove Box & Engine Lights Always On

The front trunk, glove box and rear engine light are always on in the 1997 993. Does anyone know which fuse this is and what the problem in the circuit might be?

In the front trunk the light is always on when open. The switch is in the latch.
I believe the engine compartment works the same way. To trick the system
flip the latch closed. This is what I do so I can hook up my battery
maintainer and also lock the car. Don't forget to pop the latch open before
actually closing the trunk (or engine lid).

It's fuse #11 ...

But - as mentioned already, it's switched on in the instant the micro switch is switched. Another BUT - the lights are switched against such that if a cable is damaged, they're always on ...

Another caveat.

EVEN if you flip-the-latch on the (front/trunk) to the CLOSED position -- if you leave any of the doors open -- the light will STILL stay on! (Try it!)

If you have the (front) trunk open - but the latch CLOSED then, in order for the trunk light to go out and STAY out ...both doors need to be CLOSED. Those of you who go to car shows and leave your hood and trunk open (to show off how clean they are!) ...then do yourself a favor and close both doors (but leave e.g. a winow open so folk can see in!), otherwise you risk, at the end of the day/show, not being able to start the car coz the battery is kaput.

(And wouldn't THAT be embarassing!)

For 2 years I had battery problems (discharged after a few days if the car was not driven). It turned out that the light in the trunk was always "on" even with the trunk closed! Don't ask me how the mechanic found out....
