I think he drives different cars (or bikes) every day. He really likes his steamers.

I hope the Panamera does well; Porsche needs all the help it can get right now.

Barney, I feel the need to defend here...

Have you ever met Jay Leno? Probably not. I have, and I can say he is a genuine nice guy. Very down-to-earth and absolutely loves vehicles of all types. Also, he can be very funny and ad-lib with the best without being filthy. He still does standup every week in a small club in Hermosa Bch, Ca (In different clothes).

Yes, Jay is a nice guy and a true car nut.

Unfortunately, so are thousands of others I've met. I think the cult of personality he possesses from being a hugely rich celebrity/car freak far exceeds any of his other attributes.

One only need to compare Jay Leno to Johnny Carson to see the what true grace, style, REAL ad-lib talent, and most importantly, incredibly funny humor looks like.

Not even a close race.

"but a four door sedan that can get 20 mpg and 4 second 0-60 times is right up my alley."

CTS-V fully equipped lists for $70K (easily half the price of a skimpily-optioned Panamera) that'll lap the "Ring" in under 8 min.

"I have heard from others that photos don't do it justice and that it looks way better in person"

So does Joan Rivers!

I was in that car at Laguna Seca....

1. Here is what I Can say... the car is huge.... and you dont really realize this until it is next to another normal sized car. It looks like it is enlarged by the same factor a 996 is to a 993 (if that makes sense)....wait....no.... its bigger than that.

2. When you see it driving around the track it actually looks cool. though

3. Sitting inside.... the rear is simply AMAZING... it is like having 4 individual cockpits for every passenger... VERY VERY cool.

The front... is the WORST porsche experience I have ever experienced. It is awful awful awful.... controls are absurd...bordering on ludicrous. The whole feeling of sitting in the front "control seat" is "blah"... I couldnt wait to get out of the front seat and into the back.... that's a first for me!

4. The rear end - ... I am a "rear end guy" (I know how that comes across....). ... but the car has to have balance on the rear as well as the front for me. This car has a booty. It has way more rear than front.

Overall... Design wise - car is a mess.... and dont even ask what these things cost.

Indeed. Anyone who makes profit from one joke about another's real tragedy has given up everything for nothing. Stopped watching Leno, years ago.

Somehow after meeting you, I have a hard time believing that statement

I haven't driving the car, but I did get to see it and feel it up close and personal, and so far I do not care for it. AS I said somewhere else here on RL, the Panamera reminds me of a Cayenne that has been stepped on by the Jolly Green Giant.

As for the control panel?? I thought it looked like the controls for the Space Shuttle and you had to have a degree in aeronautical engineering to know how to work them all.... It could be a whole lot easier. The technology is here already. Give me a joy stick to control everything. With all those buttons to push when are you going to have both hands on the steering wheel?

Fantastic car in specifications and on paper, impressive car in performance figures, probably a super car to drive, problem for me is it's lousy car to look at.

Whats up with those lame wheels...Good grief they look like bad cheap copy of BBS LM.

I agree with this completely...BUT....this is exactly what BMW did with the iDrive....and for the most part people (especially the press) hated it. I have an '08 535i with iDrive and I love it...actual drivers seem to hate it or love it...but that discussion is certainly beyond the scope of this thread.

As technology progresses, and there become more and more parameters to adjust in the car...there is gonna HAVE to be some other interface than buttons for all these adjustments. For a PC, we use a mouse to point and click on everything...for a car, something is gonna have to be developed to do the same thing.

Marketing.
I've been in marketing for 16 years, including automotive. While FB is indeed cheap to do, PCNA is using Facebook to maintain relevancy and avoid being left behind. I thought the "impressions from Jay" video backfires, was amateurish and totally inconsistent with the brand image. The PCNA folks looked very confused and uncomfortable. Look no further than 997 launch as an example of the "do" catagory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sWPHKU1XZU

Content-wise, their FB page seems to have lots of "brochure ware" and be very redundant compared to what's on their website. Corporations need to understand what's expected when they play in the social media space. Here's how it's supposed to be done. http://fastlane.gmblogs.com/archives/category/bob_lutz I'm told that ol' Bob does most of the writing himself.

I saw and sat in the car at the Historics as well. At 6'3" I guess I can thank Wendell for a decent back seat, but I can get at least that much in a '01 740iL and save $80K. The hatchback is an abomination. It seems like they were desperately trying to maintain a visual connection with 911 at all costs, which ruled out a more handsome "trunk," even though there's no engine back there!! While I rationally understand that the seats fold for cargo "flexibility," I expect that total interior volume with 4 passengers with cargo is lacking. The remaining hatch area seemed like an awkward cube-ish shape that reminded me of the less-useful shape of the Crossfire (ouch!)

BTW- The denim is Jay's signature. He is very accessible if you live in LA and attend car/bike happenings.
