Default Blue Ridge Pkwy 993 pics

A trip yesterday along the Blue Ridge Pkwy in our '95 aventurine green cab. Nice and cool all day. I even let my wife drive. She did great but I think she still likes her Z3 roadster better.

In 2006 my wife and I drove the entire length of the Blue Ridge Parkway, albeit in a rental car. We love it all the way. Hopefully one day I can revisit with my Ruf or Cayman. Then I'll hit the Tail of the Dragon at the same time.

Your drive in a 993 cab must be magnitudes more enjoyable. Congratulations, and thanks for sharing.

If you do don't miss the Cherohala Skyway (143/165) between Robbinsville, NC (129) and Tellico Plains, TN. It's a much nicer road (for our cars) with long high speed sweepers, plenty of overlooks and not as many LEOs since it's between the 2 states. I like it much better than the Dragon.

East-southeast of 129 (the Dragon)

BTW 95NC993, great photos of your 993 and the BRP!

Thank you! I agree 100% about the Cherohala Skyway. The only bad part is it has been 'discovered' by the same Dragon motorcycle crowd and it is much more crowded than it used to be. A few years back (2003 or so) we could drive the entire distance and see less than 10 cars coming the opposite way. It was unreal that no one was on the road. We went last year and what a difference, with wrecks and loads of bikes. Still a fun exciting ride though with views equal to the parkway. A weekday would be best and there are some nice lunch restaurants on the TN side vs fast food in Robbinsville, NC.

I live about 1 mile from Blue Ridge Pky and my C4 often thinks she is back in Germany. Some great drives if you know when to miss crowds.

Why am I not surprised, it is too nice a road to be kept a secret for long. I think it was '99 or '00 when I lived in Roswell, GA that I did most of my riding (BMW K1200RS) up there. Took another trip down in '02 I think but that was during the week IIRC.

It is great once you get to these roads way out in the boonies but getting there and back on the nations murderways is brutal. My car took a beating on our recent WV meet

Nice pics, NC.

the Dragon crowd...
I read in the BMW MOA site that the LEOS have been really cracking down on the riders there.

Trying to catch the Dung Beetle on that ferocious hill climb, or yodeling along behind semi-comatose left-lane bandits on the drive home?

I used to have a factory in Northern Georgia and made many trips to NC through the smokies. Beautiful County, awesome roads.

Ed has the rare 3rd row seating mod in his 993.

No. He rotates one of them to the trunk every stop!
