That's a pretty sharp car there. Nice choice.

I plan on borrowing it myself now and then, particularly on the days it is my turn to drive carpool.

Wow. Nice upgrade from the 11 year old '75 Granada sedan with 3 on the tree which was never officially "given" to me. Either times have changed or he's a much better kid that I was

Don't tell my 18 year old. She's still driving my old '87 W124.

On one hand, yes, he is a great kid, solid student, very nice friends, captain of the varsity soccer team. Far from spoiled, material items are meaningless to him. For his Birthdays, he gets a bunch of his friends together and the play capture the flag, video games, and ping pong. He is a Sr this year, and is thinking about pre-Med. The worst behaviour we have to deal with him is that he doesn't clean up his room, it is littered with plastic water bottles that he recycles.

The ONLY reason he got the 91 W124 in the first place, is my wife wanted a higher mileage vehicle, so she bought a Prius. We tried like to sell the MB, but the market for a 18 year old car is pretty small. so, last November, when he got his license, we felt it was best just to give it to him, it is heavy (e.g. SAFE), not too fast, and if he totaled it, we didn't really care.

As many of you know, I replaced the tranny in it earlier this year. Then the radiator just went, well, per chance, the CARS program is in effect and low and behold the W124 qualifies. so the result is all pure dumb luck and current circumstances.

Without the CARS program, I would have replaced the radiator and been done, but it was too good to pass up.
