Chris, the tank location is the front trunk.
I agree 100% with you on both, the oil system, now, and previous oil pump failure.
No way that pump failed without eating something significant.
I'm still thinking the "height" difference (between tank and case) could be a contributing factor for the excessive blow by.

Almost correct, the spacer ring you have threaded onto the tube should sit under it, in the bolt "bucket" with the flare on the base of the guide tube sitting on it.
Only thing I can think that would happen if the guide tube was wrongly installed is that the spring might buckle side to side in the bore it runs in decreasing oil pressure.
Hope this helps

Did you attempt to imitate the factory 993 oil tank venting scheme? It's kinda complicated but there are 3 fat hoses going to the oil tank. I know one of them goes to the intake manifold just aft of the throttle body, and one goes to the rubber L before the intake manifold. Not sure about the 3rd hose offhand- crankcase? I assume they're all there for a reason.

Eric,
Here is a PDF of the layout.
Although, they added an additional box to mine as my engine has so much excess oil coming out the top of the case. It was filling up even after it was modified. They drilled a hole on the bottom of the breather canister then a tube ran to the valve cover.
That gives you an idea of how much oil was in the crankcase?
Mind you, that was with the old pump. So, I'm not sure if that still problem would still exists? The previous pump couldn't do it's job scavaging oil, so.....
And this motor was'nt together long enough to find out.
* Another thought, no thermostat was added to my set up.... I believe I will add one for the next motor. The reason they didn't it is 2 fans were placed under the oil cooler shroud with a toogle switch I can turn on, traffic or warm weather. The car never ran hot, I will say that.

Here is a few pics showing the breathers hoses installed in my car.
If you can see where the two hose clamps come together, the tube coming from the top of the case (1st picture)
that's where they added that baffle or whatever (last picture)

That would be a 1/4 brother. Thats when your mom has kids with 2 different men, and the first dad has another boy with another woman. Both the boys are related to the sister(s) but not to each other. Its a joke my buddies (who are in the exact same boat) use when they go out to the bars "oh, dont mind him. He's my 1/4 brother."

Well that oiling is definitely different than a 993. Like I said, the 993 oil tank is piped to the intake manifold to draw a vacuum, whereas your tank is vented to atmosphere. Maybe the vacuum pressure in the tank helps oil get back into the tank? Sorry but I don't understand the hoses in your engine bay so I'm having a hard time commenting. But I'd be looking hard at possible crankcase pressurization.
