What's the widest rim that you can fit in the rear of a NB? What' rim sizes and tire sizes? If anyone have some pics. please post it up.

Thanks,

I've not heard of anyone going wider than 10" on the rear. As for tires, it will depend on the shoulder design of the tire, and how low your car is.. I've got 10" rear with 285/30/18 and get some rubbing, even with rolled fenders. I think it's because of the square shoulder on my ContiSport Contact 2s. I don't think that Michelin Pilot Sports would rub. My car is between ROW and RS height...

I'm running Goodyear F1 (not my choice) on 10" hollow turbo twist w/ 285/35/18. Slightly taller tire than Falcondrivr but I'm at ROW height with no rubbing but very very close.

11" will fit. David in LA has them on his cab. Check some of his posts for offsets.

10s with little effort, get the correct offset
if you put 11s you need to be careful with offset, ride height and camber. 11s can be made to fit a NB with some care

Thanks guys for the great information and an awesome pictures. At the moment I am running an 18x8.5 for the front and 18x10 in the rear. On Falcon tires, I lowered with H&R sports springs. The back looks very closed to rubbing. I wanted to go like 275 atleast on the rear if possible, but 285 is preferred If I could. So on my next set of tires I just wanted to go wider on both front and rear.

I suppose more camber helps it fit wider, right? The only rubbing issue is the top? How low can you go before 11's rub?

I've had 10.5 with 57mm offset in the rear, rolled fenders, 285/30/18, no rubbing. This means I can technically fit 11" wide rims with 63mm offset as well.

My current setup is a 10" wide rim but with a 50mm offset, which sits just 1mm closer to the fender than my old 10.5" 57mm offset setup, and guess what? Ever so slight rubbing on very high speed hard bumps with the same tires.

I wonder if a 11.5" wheel with a 69mm or 70mm offset would fit....hmmm.

These are:
Front: 8.5x18 ET 46 with Pilot Sport 245/40
Rear: 10x18 ET 52 with Pilot Sport 295/30

Car is on PSS10s (don't know exactly how lowered) and the rear fenders had to be "rolled"/ hand hammered to prevent rubbing.

Russ, your cab looks awesome. You need to update your avatar.

What wheels are those? Any more pics?

If you are going with a wheelbuilder that can do custom offsets, you could surely get 11s in there. You could probably start with a close offset/width and measure with the wheel mounted/on travel to see what kind of room you have.

It's about time you posted pics of your new wheels...I was beginning to think they were a figment of your imagination!

It's not just about the rim width...otherwise even 12" or 13" might be possible if your're willing to make compromises (see below)

You have to take into consideration all of the factors - rim width, offset, tire size, tire brand, shoulder profile...not to mention that there are clearance variances between cars and even between the left and right side of the same car (as much as 1-2cm). It depends on why you want to wider rims/tires in the first place? Aesthetics? Performance? Just "because"?

The general rule of thumb I use is 285 of almost any brand tire on 10" with ET65 will fit with minimal or no issues. Anything that reduces clearance from this setup by more than 1cm and you need to start considering fender rolling, camber adjustments, ride height, suspension firmness, etc.
