Default Windshield Creaking/squeak Fix?

I have this creaking noise that seems to be coming from my windshield. I started to notice it when I got my car a few months back. The noise is really annoying at low speeds.

Is there a quick fix?

There are many archive posts dealing with this topic.

Try a search for "Pedros Ice Wax" and "rope fix"

Sorry I forgot to put in my post. I did do the search and the post were 5+ years old and thought maybe there was a new fix? Or is Pedros still the best solution.

Using Pedros on mine and it is working just fine. It is very easy to do so if I have to do it 2 or 3 times a year it is not a big deal. Some squirt it directly under the trim, I just soak a rag with it and run it under the trim. I try not to get buildup under the trim.

I sort of like the squeak. Initially it bothered me but now it's grown on me.

No, Pedros is the old school fix. Apparently the current thinking is to insert the foam rope around the window frame as recommended by porsche. You can buy the porsche poly foam rope for like $30 or just go to home depot and get the 1/2" foam insulating rope for $3. I chose the later and so far so good. The squeaks disappeared immediately but only time will tell if it holds up. Also did wonders for holding my rubber trim in place in the rear. In the rear, the plastic frame that holds the rubber trim often breaks at the corners, letting the trim fall out, but the foam rope completely fixes that!!

I love this place, thanks.

I'm going to try to home depot fix first and if that fails go with the foam cord from Porsche. Can anyone confirm is this is the correct part # 996.541.903.00? or is there one for 993?

+1 on the foam. I just picked up my 993 with a "new" windshield today. The local Porsche Dealership redid the job because I was not satisfied with the gaps leading to the rubber seal rolling into the gap. I put in the foam before and they kept it in there after the job was done right today. No squeaking at all and perfect gaps. I am very happy with how the dealership made the job "right". I will be back.

Thanks, You actually got me to laugh out loud. These "issues" are part of the charm of these cars.

The foam cord works well. The foam is a closed cell type and doesnt hold moisture. Another fix is to peel back the rubber outer seal and wax the sheet metal underneath it. Works great!
