Default Opinions on price 97 C2S, 32K

for those who have recently been looking/sold/bought and have a genuine idea of fair pricing out there. I am thinking of selling my 97 C2S, arctic silver, 32K miles. Will probably start local with some interested porsche guys and wondering what is a reasonable price starting point.

I am the second owner (6 years). Have all papers/service worksheets since the car was ordered. All work done religiously by dealership or specialty porsche mechanic, including 30K check with in spec leak-down numbers. Excellent condition. Upgrades: PSS9 suspension, RS sways, short shift, litronics, kinesis supercup wheels (not perfect) but have perfect original cup wheels - all stock suspension parts if buyer wanted for some weird reason.

Again, looking for current experiences to help guide a fair starting point.
thanks

Having just bought from Holt Motorsports (fine, clean, documented, stock examples) in April and searching for months on end I have a general idea what your car should bring. You might need to wait but seeing what is out there I would hate to see you take less than $42,000. That is rock bottom. You should ask higher if the car is truly as excellent as you indicate. My experience always seems to find that owners overrate their cars. Their excellent cars are really just good, and the good cars are really just fair used examples. Your nice low miles is a real plus. How many C2S examples can be left out there with that mileage and condition? I doubt there are many. Good luck!

In the past 2 weeks I have had a number of Rennlisters offer their cars to me. I would sum it up so far like this (all were WB cars)...cars with mileage in the teens - low $50's, cars with mileage in the 20's - mid $40's, cars with 30K plus low $40's or less. All of these cars are no excuse cars with complete history and all service up-to-date. I believe this prices are where the cars will actually sell...I did not list any of the crazy asking prices that I was presented with

I'm actively looking, and I agree with Zedder and NC's assessments. Assuming your car is in the condition you say it's in, it is a $44-45K car. You might fetch a tad more if you find a local buyer who wants a low mileage car with your specs.

Zedder - mind sharing leads on the cars with 30K? PM is fine as I don't want to take up any space in the OPs thread.

Bobby, send me a PM with what you are looking for and I'll forward what I kept...unfortunately, I deleted a bunch on Friday as I am pretty focussed on 3 cars in particular....

What are your views on prices for a NB car? How much less than the WB ones?

I think c2s pricing depends on how long you are willoing to wait. Rpm and willhoit still are asking crazy prices for the 2S's. There are not too many low mileage ones around and when one comes up at a speciality dealer they want really big bucks.

While it's not the best measure, Total 911 gives its coveted 5 stars for desireability to the c2s-- one of only a handful of porsches to get that assessment.

I think if you are willing to wait for just the right buyer I think your car is of the condition and quality that you could get a premium over what you would get in a fast sale (which fast sale would probably fetch mid to low 40's w/o too much trouble)

thanks for the input guys. I am not in a hurry, I'm still ambivalent about any decisions. I think the records, low miles and condition and just completed large $$ required maintenance interval are all worth something- and I have the stock parts and the large volume bound service manuals for the 993 I'll give to the buyer as well. We'll see what happens but I do appreciate the help.

Bill - if you want a decent price for your car you are either very lucky to find the right buyer now or need to wait until the slump is over. I am convinced that we will not see the low wide body prices for a long time. It is like a good stock: at some point, base fundamental quality will shine again.

First of all - why sell it?

$42 - 45K if it's in great shape.

safemoney - like the white c2s!

to the OP: call the specialty dealers mentioned above and see what they'd give you. Add a few grand and that's what you might fetch if you wanted a relatively fast sale.

Its seems like the prices are holding well in this economy......I recently had an appraisal done for insurance purposes and my 97 C4S with 23k miles was valued in the mid 50's. Still ahead from what I purchased it for with 16k on the clock!
