Default Road trip prep - emergency belt

Last week there was a thread asking how best to prepare for a road trip and as I recall an extra v-belt with required tools was almost universally suggested.

Anyone try with success/failure one of these:

Emergency Fan Belt

Seems like a simpler alternative for on the side of the road temporary apps.

Thoughts?

The problem with the 911 belts when they break is that they usually are torn or shattered to pieces I doubt that repair kit would do any good. Probably a pair of pantyhose would work better.

I always recommend owners to keep their old belts in the trunk as spare in case of an emergency.

Robin, my hero (we first "met" by phone and email just after you moved from ATL to FL and I had just bought my 993, and my long time goal, which you've fulfilled, is to go to a Fazzaz. I've enjoyed and utilized extensively your wonderful 993 resource webpage),

Back to the subject; this belt claims to temporarily replace, not repair, the broken belt.

JC,

Good to hear from you. Glad to know the p-car.com web site was helpful in your 993 ownership experience.

Thanks

I actually have one of those in my trunk!

Now, mind u, I had all my belts replaced with new ones, 18,000 miles ago (with no troubles since then), but I keep that 'device' handy ...just in case.

My belts are pretty new too, but a lot of folks seem kind of paranoid about the issue.

Sure would be nice to get some feedback from an actual user though.
