Driving home yesterday from a rather grueling flight day (3 legs) I was caught in traffic from Van Nuys airport to Pasadena (CA) - almost 2 hours. The heat was finally letting up. As I sat at the freeway exit I went to put the top down. Little bastard stopped halfway - wouldn't go up or down. Kind of stuck in a Sig Heil position. Now I had read about this top breaking, bending etc. if one were to keep operating it... Well, instead of looking like a jackass and driving around with the top halfway open (or some other brilliant solution), I chose to FORCE it down instead of looking like a douche. I am awesome. Sat around with the wife and a glass of vino post flight and was able to put it back up in manual limp-home mode (which I should have done earlier). My little move probably cost me $5k. Sweet.

Note to others: pull over when this happens and read the fu@%ing manual.

Uggh... mine got stuck like that last summer, but I was parked at the time and got it raised manually. Ended up being the transmissions right behind the doors were loose. Tightened up the bolts and viola... works like a charm. I did immediately convert it back to manual operation once I got it working though... didn't want to take my chances.

These types of actions are the worst, and really stick with you. Now worries as it can be fixed, but I completely understand how you feel...

I think the 3 flight legs played a major role with your stress level. Travelling commercial always drains me.

Hopefully won't cost that much. Don't sweat it, we've all been there.

That totally blows. I can empathize. I don't do well when overheated and tired either.

Hopefully it was about time for a new top and you can turn this into an opportunity.
If not, I recommend more good vino.
