Default Looking at 97 c4s repairs

Need a little guidance. I am looking at a 97 C4S and it needs a DME relay, Fan Airduct - A/c Leaks - Clutch and RMS leaks and is missing the rear undertray.

The cost to repair is about $6K .. Does anyone know about the cost I should pay for the RMS (rear main seal) and the clutch? Also recommendations on the clutch.

Hi,

You didn't say how many miles are on the car, but I'd offer some thoughts,.........

1) DME relays are a wear item: these do fail and one should always carry a spare.

2) Same principle; fan airducts don't last forever due to heat & age and thats not a dealbreaker.

3) A/C leaks can be normal depending on mileage. Its not difficult to leak-test the system and recharge it.

4) If it has over 60K on it, its in that window of needing a clutch and again, thats a normal wear item just like tires. I always replace the RMS when doing a clutch. Labor rates vary widely so its difficult to estimate your cost on replacing all this.

5) IMHO, having no rear undertray is a big plus and I'd be grateful for that.

Make sure you get a thorough PPI done that includes a leakdown test.

Steve is a 993 genius, so I'd take his word as gold.
