Hey guys, anyone here do RS door panels on their 993's with stereo equipment installed in the panels? Contradictory to what they're for, but I do like the look and the space they would clear for my left leg would be beneficial as well......just wondering if anyone has done this. I was going to do a set but I didn't know what was involved in retofitting the panels with speakers......

I'd like to know as well as this is a project that I will tackle soon. On some doors I notice there is a round **** above the door latch - what does that do ? On some RS doors I see electric window switches, the door release, the door handle, and the round **** that I can't seem to figure out.

I have RS door panels w/ aftermarket MB Quarts installed in the doors (6.5" w/ a separate 1" tweeter). I didn't do the install on my stereo system a shop did but the RS panels themselves came with several perforated options on the backside of the panels to fit your needs. One of those options is the circle you mention which is for the door locks on some cars.

As Mark mentions, it's a manual door locking mechanism. IIRC, I think it's primarily for pre-993s. Similar to what he also says about holes pre-traced onto the back, that's common on some after-market carbon fiber RS door panels, too. Convenient templates.

The following 993 photo shows the subtle indentation for the round **** you ask about.

Regarding stereo installation, many door panels also have a pre-drawn hole for the smaller treble speaker, which goes above the pictured bass speaker.

I have the RS door panels above and was surprised to find they are oem 964 parts when I had them recovered in leather this winter. The 993 RS door panels look different but I prefer the 964 style better

Applied business concepts sells 964-993 door panels. They will sell them in what ever configuration you desire. Very good quality, I ordered a set for an RSA. The only thing is make sure the panel welting in stapled in place the set I had was not but I had extra welting stock and took care of it myself.

Anyone got the rs panels from betterbodies ? They only cost USD$189 a pair. Wondering what the quality is like ? I'm thinking to get this one and then get it custom wrapped in grey alcantara to match my interiror. Anyone done that - and have any tips ?
