Default Fuel injector cleaning- Any noticeable difference?

Hey guys, has anyone noticed any performance or low-rpm smoothness difference after cleaning the fuel injectors? I'm thinking of yanking them and sending them out for a cleaning, and want to know what to expect.

A good data point would be if you cleaned the injectors and did very little else, to single out the effect of the cleaning.

The car's got about 97k miles on her, with no real problems.

short answer ....Yes, at 122k miles...
I sent them out to be inspected and cleaned. Sure enough the analysis before cleaning was that the injector spray pattern was noted as "dripping" on one of them.... Noticeable change afterward, but I also did alot of other stuff too.....

So it really depends on if you have a problem or not.... If no problem and they are all atomizing fine, then no it wont help...... but, for the 125 bucks, at 97k miles it certainly wont hurt... In the realm of 993's $125 for anything seems like a bargin.....

Yeah, no kidding- very few of my repairs or upgrades have been less than $200.

What kind of change did you notice?

Ok, I'll give this a go in next few weeks. I have to deal with the disabled GTI in my garage first though.

I wanted to follow up on this, in case anyone's interested. I had the injectors cleaned by RC Engineering. The spray pattern was ok on all but one, which was dripping.

I changed nothing else in the car, so I could see the effect. So what happened? I didn't notice any performance difference, or smoothness at idle. Of course I'm glad I had it done as I'll have the car a long time, and it was better to do it sooner rather than later.

1996 VR6. Such a great car. She's holding in there as a daily driver, but at 150k miles, the problems are piling up. When I wrote that message it was either the heater core that took me a few weeks to finish, or a leaky fuel injector that caused it to fail smog.
