Can anyone give me a ballpark cost for a complete paint job for my '96 C2 coupe done by reputable Porsche specialist or other relative high end paint shop? Work will have to include repair of minor body dings.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,

Yeah, 5-7K in Houston for just an outside spray. If you're looking to do door jambs and inner rain gutters, it will be maybe 2K more? Are you changing colors or just freshening up what's already there?

Mine was about $9k, but I did a lot of extras, and took the opportunity to add a turbo front bumper, tail, delete headlight washers, bumperettes, etc.

To answer Tango 635, I'm just doing the outside/maintaing same color (black). So, looks like 5-7K would be appropriate here in Houston.
Thanks very much for the info.

Do you have any places in mind? I just had pretty good luck at Jammers on Jeanetta on my 08 ridgeline that got keyed. They didn't blend it into the hood or quarter and it matched nicely with the right orangepeel.
I had to go back a couple times but they took care of all of the items (small) that I wanted fixed.
I will take my 964 there when I am ready for some paint work. Also, they were recommended by Motorwerks.

You'll save a lot of money, and end up with a better finished product, if you do the disassembly and reassembly yourself. I've always found that bodyshops aren't very good at putting a car back together properly. They tend to take a lot of shortcuts, use the wrong fasteners, etc. When it comes time to respray my 993, I'll bring the body shop a stripped car. All they'll have to do is block sand it, spray it, and sand/buff it. That shouldn't be too expensive.

I've found prices can be all over the place. The best place I could find in Seattle was roughly $15k. I ended up going with a $5k place but the work was **** poor. It's going into the $15k place on Monday to be fixed. (they burnt the paint when buffing, spider cracks here and there, didn't lay the seals well etc.)
Go to a place that has experience with Porsche. Stuff like the seals on the front bumper can be tricky unless the tech has done them before. If you want it perfect. bring it to a Porsche place
That said my $5k place was a Porsche place! I'm out of advice.

to add up the cost of paint you must factory in the following:
shop hour rate.
quailty of shop facility.
attention to tape detail when prepping car.
how many repairs are neccessary after sanding down factory paint.
the process of straightening/smoothing panels before paint.
brand of paint and materials.
how many coats of clearcoat you wish to use.
how many coats you wish to have wet sanded.
this is why paint jobs vary in price.

I paid $18K. Remember, you get what you paid for. Really check out the paint/body shop for references. Make sure they guarantee their work. I learned the hard way.
Even after I spent $18K, the front bumper paint kept cracking. The body shop would not fix it without me paying more. In fact they told me that I would have to purchase a new bumper if I did not want the paint to crack in the future...total BS. They kept telling me that it was not their responsibility. I called the local Glasurit Paint rep and found out through some research (also talked with the painter at the shop) that they had put to much paint on the bumper. To get it done right they were going to have to strip the entire bumper...a cost that they would not absorb. Even though the rest of the car looks amazing...they lost a customer for life. And I will continue to tell everyone never to use them. Stupid decision on their end.

I had a 911 coupe repainted at the factory,--it was DM 5,000 And the year was 1978. You do the math, accounting for inflation over the decades.
