$1200 is the norm for around here.
DO NOT BE TEMPTED BY 1-800-GLASS-GORILLA, if u get my drift. They are truly idiots!
I had mine done (very well I might add) by the 'glass guy' who does all of Bill Rudtner's cars.
Google Rudtner Racing -- in the town of Freeport Long Island -- and Bill will set you straight. Tell him Gerry (Floral Park) sent u.

Outer windshield gasket came from Sunset also. Think it was about $40.00
My body shop has been using the same glass guy for 20 years. They charged me $145.83 for the install.
For total parts and labor I was right at $938.00.
Porsche is the only windsheild made for our 993's . No such thing as an aftermarket.

So I take it you fellows have had the windshield replace due to pitting? I mostly notice the pitting in the early morning light when driving into the sun. Been thinking about the same thing.
The local go to mechanic says aftermarket is harder and will not pitt as quickly, plus cheaper. As a side note he also says it might hurt with resale not having an OEM. I know there was a post stating there was not aftermarket available but that is what I was told.
So, question is, only one (outer) gasket replacement needed or, if both exist, better to do it right? Thanks.

Many recent posts have indicated that a search for an aftermarket windshield has been futile.
I only replaced the outer gasket. I suppose it's personal preference, but my installer said there was no reason to yank out the inside gasket.

I've got a couple of bad nicks but I just can't seem to pull the trigger on a replacement. Maybe it's just me but replacements in general just never seem to be as good as the factory installation.

Perfect. Thanks for the great answers. From the prices quoted it seems there are no aftermarkets like previously stated. I will look into it. Have a great weekend.

Word of caution, when they replace the windshield, make sure that the antenna is connected correctly. I speak by bad experience. I rarely listen to AM. The FM worked great, so I didn't think that I had a problem. Baseball season came along and I tried getting the Padres on AM, virtually no reception. I can get one AM station and that is it. Phil
