Default Wheel refinishing in Boston area

Fellow Bostonians,

Do any of you have experience with any good wheel refinishers in the area? I know there are two places listed online in the Boston area but their prices are kind of high $150+ per wheel. Do any of you have anyone that does a nice job for cheaper or is that the going rate around here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Regards,

Kevin

The first time I had my wheels refinished, the job cost $75 a wheel. The outfit in Charlton Ma. specialized in restoring 356's. Looked good except for a few runs and embedded dirt. The new finish peeled off in large sections when I had the tires re-mounted.

My neighbor had his Phaeton wheels touched up by a mobile outfit that was hired by his Volkswagon Dealer. His wheels looked great. But the dealer would not give out the name of the refinisher.

My buddy went to Rimpro - expensive - but his wheels look great years later.

Kevin, you have to go to the nearest dealer of any brand. Talk to their people and ask who refinishes their wheels. Usually it's a guy in a van that comes around once a week and finishes the wheels right there. You might have to go to a few dealerships to find the one that would give you the info. But it's worth it.

The ones I've seen do a very good job and charge $75 per wheel or less. I know you're farther out, but I've seen examples of the guy who did wheels for Bernardi Audi in Natick and he was good.

On a related note, they also have a ding guy coming around ones a week. I once had him do my sister-in-laws Pathfinder's tailgate and he did an amazing job for laughably little money. I need to find him again.

As Dave mentioned, Rimpro was pretty good (I'm not sure they do it any longer). And Rim and Wheel works in Newton is very good and has been around for a long time, but not cheap.

Kevin,

I have had straightening and refinishing done at Wheel Works in Newton. I believe they sent my rim (for a SAAB) out fro refinishing though. Give them a call.

One of my buddies owns a MB dealership and hooked me up with whoever does their cars. I am expecting them this weekend, so I will let you know how it goes. I got their cost so it was a pretty good discount. Does anyone know where to get a good set of center caps?
