Default Windshield replacement

Seeking some advice. This is regarding my 360, not the 993 S, but a generic kind of quesiton. The windhield developed a crack approximately 10 in. long (for now). My local Porsche shop (Steinel's) recommended a galss installer that is competent with high end exotics and has done other f-cars. They are telling me in April State Farm changed its policy regarding replacement glass. they will no longer pay for OEM/factory replacement if a cheaper aftermarket piece is available, i.e. if I want factory replacement glass I pay the difference. Needless to say I'm not inclined to put non-factory windhield in the 360 (nor would I want to do it if it was the 993), but I'm not happy with paying additional (360 windshields are, um......... rather expensive).
Any advice? Any ideas for dealing with this? Do I have any grounds to challenge?

I have not had to do this myself as my insurance company coughed up for a genuine Porsche Windscreen when mine needed replacement but I have heard of successful arguments here in the UK being made on the grounds that the screen is a structural part of the car and an essential part of it's structural integrity. I would think that it's a very important component in a Ferrari. Maybe you could persuade Ferrari US to comment?

Can't speak to f-cars at all but I know a number of Rennlisters have commented on how soft OEM Porsche glass is (I have a few tiny pits in mine). Many 993 owners have preferred aftermarket windscreens as the glass seems a bit tougher. Just another perspective.....

You need to ditch State Farm. They are not the company to insure your F-car. You're probably stuck this time and will have to pay up for OEM glass but get a better policy and next time you won't have to pay. It will cost less in the long run (and maybe even in the short run too).

+1 - Both my 993 and previous 964 had non-OE screens fitted, however they were installed by a friend and 911 owner who happens to fit glass for a living. (£150) <$240

More worrying is why the 360 screen has developed such a large crack, road junk or body flex?

Do they really make an aftermarket glass for a F-360? I would say even though your insurance co. only pays for aftermarket they would be hard pressed to find anything but OEM. I may be wrong though.

My company coughed up for the OEM because the others were not available. I would find out first if anybody does make the glass. I would also bump it up to your agent by reminding how much you pay for premiums and I would also move insurance on the Ferrari. Remind the agent this is not a Ford.
