Default Rear Toe Link Boots

As many have expressed interest in finding a replacement boot for rear toe links, outboard joint, I have found something that may work.

We see several 993's and just about always find these boots torn and spewing grease out of the joint. Shame that the only fix is replacing the whole link.

Anyhow, here are some images of how this may work:

Here is the link with a torn boot example (sad thing is, this link's boot was actually 100% in tact, but I cut it to simulate a tear.

This is the remnants of the boot:

This is the bottoming washer/collar that is spiralocked to the boot, this needs to be retained!

Where the washer/collar locates on the toe link stud (sans boot):

New boot in place -- these can be and probably should be cut down a little since they are to compress quite a bit once assembled:

If any of you would like to try a set, please let me know, happy to send them to someone in a position to try them.

Chris - I'd love a set, or even just one. I'm in the middle of installing JRZs and I found a torn boot on one of the toe links. Still haven't decided on a solution, but a repair like this would be ideal.

I REALLY need some too. Is there a way to do with without flubbing the alignment? I just got the car aligned within the past 3 weeks.

Does the small diameter of the boot fit into the recess of the washer/collar so no dust/dirt/water can get in?

No, just slides snug over the stud. One could probably carefully cut the ID open to fit in the groove. The washer just traps it in place as it is now.

That groove is there for a reason, I'd say. Any chance to fi the boot into the groove?

Sadly no real easy way around disturbing your toe settings [to remove toe links].

Yes, its there to trap the really thin rubber boot of the factory piece. One could carefully open the ID of the boot to allow it to slide over the washer. Otherwise the boot is more than likely fine to be trapped in place by the washer.

I'm bumping this thread as I found mine torn. Before spending $600 for both side, have anyone done this? Thanks.
