Default OT: New Shop Car...

We now have a "shop car" over at FDM.

Obviously a "replica" and not pretending to be anything but a replica (heck, look at the color!) but it sure is a blast to drive! I never knew 90hp could be so fun. You really cannot help but smile when you get behind the wheel.

PS- Thanks Ralph (if you are reading this)... my wife thanks you too. She really wanted another car

Disclaimer: I apologize in advance for any discomfort, offense, annoyance, etc. that this car may cause... I realize these things can be a little controversial. If I could afford to buy AND had the guts to drive one of these around with all of the fools out there on the road I would

I had one, see avatar. Mine was made by Vintage Speedsters. It was a major attention-getter and fun to drive, but the lack of hp (mine was less than 90hp) and other modern technologies was too disappointing for me. However, it looked damned good! Have fun with it!

What's wrong with a replica Porsche? Unlike other manufacturers, Porsche did alot of this stuff themselves. I am building a 959 at the moment and not one of those cheesy conv. ones, also not one of the florida ones either. It is a true to the original one-off. I am doing just what Porsche did with the real one.(cosmetically anyway!) I am taking a 959 composite front and rear clip and moulding it onto 911 . Only I won't have the aluminum doors but who cares. In other words I like your car!

Yours was a much more reasonable color
This one is also by Vintage Speedsters

Thanks!
Nothing wrong with them (IMHO) unless someone intends to deceive... it just isn't a Porsche and this is a pcar forum. Dang, forgot the "OT" designation in the Subject line, will try to edit.
Replicas make sense when the original is so difficult to attain.
Good luck on your project!
Anyhow, I didn't want this to get into a heavy discussion and I'm not off to a good start

I like it, too. A friend has a silver Vintage Speedster (I talked him into it) and it's a blast to drive. I have wanted one for quite some time now. A black on tan VS replica is my next car purchase. I'll need the 4 post lift to keep it over the 993.........the two together will be a difficult sell to the wife, but I'll get it done.

I love it. I have always wanted one and don't care that it is a replica. If I had $150k to spend on a car, I'd rather have a GT3RS.

Love it! our first P-car was a 68 912. 90hp can't compare to 285, but it was still a hoot to drive.

Sweet! I wouldn't mind having a Vintage Speedster, or a Beck 550 spyder. I don't care if they are replicas or not. Have Fun!

Mark:

Ah Ha. Now I know why you bought Andreas' retro Porsche sunglasses. They will go great with the new ride.

lol you caught me.
I actually wore them They were on the counter... I was going out the door... things happened.
They are good as a second windshield in that little car. If you sit up straight, you need it!

Brendan, I like the way you think... GT3RS in orange for me please
