FYI to those who are going to do this: It's a good time to remove those two little holes for the license plate (that are plugged by those little plugs) while you're at it.

Ahhh, as originally intended by the styling engineers

Great work -- I like it!

Looks great!!

I suspect I would have had them fill in the front license plate holes.

Looks great without the ridiculous USA bumberettes.

When I do mine, i'm going to take the advice of some of the others on this thread and also remove the license plate holes, the headlight washers, and the basket handle.

Does anyone know what factory option the silverdollar sized circle thingy is on the front bumper is for?

After 20 positive responses, may I dissent?
  • I like the protection (albeit minimal) offered by the bumperettes.
  • I like the contrast of the stock front turn signals.
  • I like the novelty of the headlight washers.
  • I like my silly 993 as it is.
There's always one in the group.

Thankfully that's not an option - it's where your tow hook/loop attaches....

I think it looks great. I don't mind the rear bumperettes so much, but when they are taken off of a narrow body car it gives a "widening" optical illusion.

I plan on ditching the front for sure once my front bumper needs a re-paint due to road chips........and I'm pretty sure I'll price having the rears done away with as well. If you don't mind sharing........what did this set you back?

I love the look without the bumperettes, especially in the front. I removed them on my 968 but all I had to do on it was remove them and the US turn signals, get the Euro turn signals and bolt them in place. It's a shame they designed the 993 bumperettes the way the did. Bummer.

It was just south of $2K when it was all said and done. I had a couple of cracks on both bumpers repaired and they were both resprayed. I'm much happier with the look. However, it now makes me want to get the entire car resprayed!

A slippery slope indeed.....

Yup...same thing happened to me. Thought I could get away with a front bumper/bumperette delete respray only.

Then the little pits on the bonnet showed up even worse. 10 months later back in for a bonnet and fender respray which I should have just done when they did the bumper. Oh well.....so on the second go around it was bye bye headlight washer warts.

Looks like everybody's getting cosmetic surgery lately.
btw, I recommend the tow hook license plate setup from these people, it's super well made: http://promountequipment.com/item1.html
