Installing a new hood crest and gasket....never a fun task. ![banghead](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/banghead.gif)
There has got to be an easy way to get the gasket to stretch/fit/stay in place under the crest. Or do they just design it to be difficult?

I soaked the gasket in some very hot water for about 20 mins, then worked the gasket around the top of the crest and proceeded to slide a microfiber towel between the bottom of the crest and the gasket. I tightened the nuts down slightly and as I applied pressure to the crest, I slowly pulled the towel out and it worked. In all, took me about 45 mins.

This is good information I wish I had a few months ago.... For the life of me, I could not get the new gasket on, so I reused the old gasket. That gasket fit like it was made for the crest!!!

When I did one I sat it on the hood of my truck in the 90 degree Florida for about an hour. Went on fairly easy after that.

Agree with the above regarding warming it to make as pliable as possible.
I use a small pick (very carefully). Get one edge started slightly snug one nut, then follow the ridge of the gasket with the pick to stretch the crest around.
Or.... use the old gasket

I gave up and reused the old gasket as well.
The silver hood crest and clear front markers look great...now the foglights should be replaced (already did the OEM Litronics updgrade) since everything else on the front looks new.

The trick that I found that worked was to install and partially tighten it down. Then use either a toothpick, or something plastic to work the new emblem gasket around.

My crest got "lifted" the very first week of ownership. I watched the dealer put a new crest on. I remember the gasket was tricky. The technician got another technician to help him, but I don't remember the exact technique. They did it in about 5 minutes with some tricky pushing and pulling.
